Every year, Fromagerie Le Détour enters prestigious competitions that showcase the know-how and excellence of cheeses from here and all over the world. Over the years, our products have received numerous awards and recognitions that demonstrate our commitment to produce high quality cheeses. Whether it’s the World Cheese Award, the Canadian Cheese Award, the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix or the Sélection Caseus, each and every one of these recognitions make us proud! It is our job to make good cheeses. When we receive recognition for the quality or our cheeses, we know that we’ve done a good job and that our customers will be pleased. A detailed description of the various contests we entered and the different prizes earned by our cheeses are listed below.

In addition to being honored for the quality of our cheeses, the Fromagerie Le Détour has distinguished itself at the regional and provincial level by winning several prizes that reflect the work of our committed team. We are very proud to share these honours with our employees!

Fromage dexception

The Canadian Cheese Award is open to artisan cheese produced in Canada using the pure milk of Canadian cows, goats, sheep and water buffalo - with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and no modified milk ingredients.

Dairy farmers of Canada sponsors a nationwide competition to honour all categories of Canadian cheeses made from 100% Canadian cow’s milk and certified as such. This prestigious national competition honours our Canadian cheese makers, giving them the opportunity to showcase the expertise and passion they invest in their craft.

GALA DE L'ENTREPRISE DU TÉMISCOUATA

This major regional event celebrates the importance and vitality of the business community in Témiscouata.

Business of the year in 2011 and 2007
Well known for its outstanding contribution to the promotion of the Témiscouata region, the Fromagerie Le Détour cheese factory made its mark by producing fine cheeses that are distributed in several locations throughout Canada and the United-States.

Environment Award in 2013
Cheese production generates a considerable amount of waste residue because only 10 % of the milk is used. The remaining 90 % waste residue, called whey, is now being recycled to produce biogas. This has resulted in significant environmental benefits:

  • Renewable energy created in short cycle;
  • Reduction in the amount of propane used;et
  • Near self-sufficient energy for production.

Innovation Award in 2006
The development and marketing of a mixed-milk cheese composed of cow’s and sheep’s milks, Le Clandestin, a one of a kind product in Quebec.
